This Privacy Policy explains how NotebookConverter handles data for the web application.

1. Data We Collect
We collect limited account and service data:
• user ID
• email address
• display name
• avatar URL
• authentication provider
We also store:
• conversion usage (credits, counts)
• job metadata (status, errors, timestamps)
• billing and subscription data (Stripe IDs, plans, credits)
• feedback ratings and comments submitted after downloads

2. Data We DO NOT Collect
We do NOT:
• store notebook content permanently
• store uploaded files permanently
• store API keys
• use analytics or tracking scripts

3. Notebook and File Handling
• Files are processed in temporary workspaces and temporary cloud object storage
• Uploaded notebooks and generated artifacts are deleted after successful download, cancellation, or automated cleanup
• Temporary files and artifacts are automatically cleaned
• If a failed TEX download is followed by optional diagnostic feedback, and you tick the diagnostic checkbox, we may temporarily store a cleaned text-only copy of the notebook and the PDF generation error. Outputs, figures, attachments, execution data, and display data are removed before storage.

4. Artificial Intelligence Processing
If AI features are used:
• relevant notebook text may be sent to an AI provider
• figure/table context may be included
For premium features:
• Company-managed AI providers may be used
Otherwise:
• user-provided API keys are used
User-provided API keys are transmitted to the web backend only to call the selected AI provider. They are not saved to localStorage, database records, object storage, logs, or the upstream conversion API.
We do not control third-party AI providers.

Payments are processed via Stripe.
• We do not store card or payment details
• Stripe may process personal and payment data

We use essential cookies only:
• session authentication cookie
• required for login and account functionality
No tracking or marketing cookies are used.

The browser may store preferences in localStorage:
• UI settings
• format preferences
• AI configuration (non-sensitive only)
API keys are not stored in localStorage.

• files and generated artifacts: temporary only
• consented failed-TEX feedback notebook diagnostics: temporary only, default 30 days
• job data: retained for service functionality
• feedback ratings and comments: retained for service improvement
• billing data: retained for accounting and compliance

However, no system is completely secure.
